BOSTON CITY CAMPUS TANZANIA, BRANCH NOW OPEN

Boston City Campus and Business College carries a legacy of over 20 years in South Africa. It currently has 44 branches with over 25000 students studying every year. In Tanzania, Boston has opened its first branch outside South Africa, 45th Branchin total this year.

Boston offers Professional Courses and Short Learning Programs with plans to introduce tertiary education in the future. These are further learning programs which will enhance one’s skills and assist to get better jobs. They have extended their wide range of courses which they offer in South Africa in various fields to Tanzania.

Students can choose from multiple course under various categories such as Accounting, ICT, Business Management, Business Communications, Marketing and many more. There are professional courses offered at their college such as ACCA and CompTIA certified A+, N+ and many more.

The teaching methodology Boston is bringing to Tanzania is quite different from the conventional way of classroom teaching. At Boston, a student would study on a computer assigned to him or her, for a scheduled time slot. All the teachings are imparted in the form of video tutorials which the student views on his computer screen and listens to through earphones. This enables the student to learn on a one to one basis.

This type of teaching method gives multiple benefits to the student: The student will be able to study at his own pace without having to worry about keeping pace with other students. The student will have a prescheduled flexible timetable to study at the college, unlike going to a classroom where he has to adjust his schedule to the class’s timings.

While a student can be studying one subject on a computer, the student sitting next to him can be studying an entirely different subject at the same time. There is a flexibility for the student to enroll whenever he wants, all round the year. Also, as the student is studying, he can view the videos multiple times, till he understands the concepts, by forwarding or rewinding the video.

The exams too are taken at their own ease, once they are done studying a module. Most of these exams are computer based and will be assessed at their headquarters in South Africa. While the learning is computer based, Boston also provides course books to the students, price of which is already included in the fee.

In the case that the student is having difficulty in understanding the tutorial, there are Training Advisors to help the students clear their doubts and move forward. The training advisor will be able to tutor the student on a one to one basis.

If the student still does not understand, they have the option to contact experts in South Africa who are qualified for each subject that is being taught here. This will be done from the college itself.

Further, for benefit of the students, refresher sessions are conducted in their workshop room on weekly basis where a student can participate if he is having any difficulty understanding any concepts and get clarifications.

Access to the computers and video tutorials is only from the college. It is mandatory for the student to be present at the college for the tutorials, as Boston wants the students to study under a controlled environment. This way the progress of each student can be monitored. However, the student is provided with study material and books which are kept by them, to be used to revise and prepare for the next class.
