TPSF Pietro Fiorentini enter partneship to organize private sector workshop on Uganda-Tanzania Crude Oil Pipeline Project

·         Workshop to unveil business opportunities available before, during and after pipeline construction, role of value chain and local content

Dar es Salaam, September 16th 2016: The Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) has partnered with Pietro Fiorentini to organize a big workshop private sector workshop in which the technical pipeline team, along with the Senior Management of TOTAL will make a detailed presentation of the Uganda-Tanzania Crude Oil Pipeline Project, that will include the introduction of the project and the potential opportunities that are likely to be tapped by local and international companies. 

The Technical and Senior Management team will explain how the local workforce will be engaged, what the expected procurement packages entail and the extent to which procurement will be local. Technical and commercial experts who will oversee the entire value chain during this workshop will accompany the TOTAL Senior Management.




The Government of the Republic of Uganda has decided to export its crude oil through a pipeline to be constructed from HoimaDistrict in the South Western Uganda to the port of Tanga in the North Eastern Tanzania.

The crude oil pipeline which will be constructed by Total E&P (French multinational integrated oil and Gas Company and one of the seven "Super Major" oil companies in the world) will cross the Tanzania-Uganda border through several regions of Tanzania from Kagera region down to the Port of Tanga.

Speaking during a press conference held at TPSF offices in Dar es Salaam, TPSF Executive Director, Godfrey Simbeye who was represented by the Deputy CEO OF TPSF, Lois P. Accaro explained that the crude oil pipeline project will provide enormousnumber of business opportunities to various companies, enterprises and individuals in addition to providing employment to many Tanzaniansas well as foreign experts before, during and after the construction.

“The main focus of this workshop is to brief Tanzanians who are interested in participating in the value chains and also to give suppliers the channels, tools and means to harness and cater for this project”, said Simbeye.

Top on the list of priorities for the workshop, explained Simbeye, will be to hearplans on how to preparelocal workforce and engagement of local enterprises to maximize the national economic benefit from this project, a part from the introduction to the project and added that it  will  also address skills shortages in the country, both in technical and professional areas, significant investment required to provide relevant skills tolocal staff and build the capacity of the local supply chain to international standards and project timelines.

The workshop, whose main agenda is to determine opportunities for the successful localization and preparation of value chain for the pipeline project,will be held on Tuesday,27thSeptember 2016 from 0830-1430hrs at the Dar es Salaam Serena Hotel.


According to the CEO,the workshop will also offer an unrivalled opportunity to establish and formalize relationship with key decision makers in other sectors, set out localization plans, and collaboratively formulate a strategy for supply chain development to meet local content goals.

The token registration fee of TZS 50,000/= only will be for TPSF members and TZS 75,000/= only for non TPSF members.
